Resilient Supply Chains and Equitable Growth in a Changing World of Work: Advancing Decent Work through Regional Cooperation in Asia
Organized by:
  • International Labour Organization

Background

On 15–16 September 2025, the ILO convened a high-level regional policy forum, Resilient Supply Chains and Equitable Growth in a Changing World of Work. It will provide space to reflect on discussions from the forum — particularly on supply chains in energy transitions, food security, and labour-intensive manufacturing — and explore how these insights can guide regional leadership on advancing decent work. The session will emphasize how coordinated action among governments, employers, and workers can foster resilient, inclusive, and rights-based supply chains. To ground the dialogue in lived experience, it will feature Stories of Change videos, offering real-world examples to spark reflections on policy impact, lessons learned, and opportunities for scale.

Key Objectives

  • Share reflections from the ILO regional policy dialogue on supply chains.

  • Explore practical challenges and promising innovations for promoting decent work in supply chains.

  • Identify lessons learned and opportunities to scale up approaches that strengthen supply chain resilience and inclusiveness

Guiding Questions
  • What have been the most promising approaches emerging from recent supply chain dialogues, and how can they be scaled?

  • How can tripartite dialogue foster enabling environments for sustainable trade, investment, and responsible business conduct?

  • What more is needed to promote resilience, inclusiveness, and decent work across supply chains in Asia?

Format

  • Fireside chat designed to elicit personal insights and foster dynamic, cross-sector dialogue. Includes subject matter experts and representatives of ILO’s tripartite constituents sharing reflections on what is working, what is emerging, and what more is needed. Moderated by Dan Rees (Director, ILO Action Programme for Supply Chains).
